Smart Mobility
How can information technologies help to create new mobility paradigms for the complex challlenges of sustainable, inclusive and efficient mobility?

Mobility is at the core of what a city is all about and urban mobility is now under increased pressure to address multiple and often conflicting goals, such as to reduce CO2 emissions, improve air quality, control costs with infrastructure maintenance, integrate novel mobility modes, improve safety and increase travel efficiency. These are all enormous challenges, emerging in a context of major technical and market trends, such as connected vehicles, shared vehicles, electrical vehicles, and the rise of soft-mobility modes. Smart Mobility refers to ICT-based mobility services that make intensive use of real-time information as a way to improve the efficiency of the whole system and contribute to long-term planning. Our work on smart urban mobility is mainly focused on micro-mobility modes, such as cycling, and the accessibility of cities.
